Bookies bet on Brazil for World Cup win

Brazil is the hot favourite to win the World Cup not only in the eyes of sports enthusiasts, but also of the bookies. The team is currently carrying a rate of Rs.4 for a win, i.e., a person placing Re.1 as bet on Brazil will get Rs.4 if the team wins.

 

Argentina is the second most favourite of the bookies, carrying a rate of Rs.4.15, followed by England at Rs.7.50 and Germany at Rs.8.15.

 

The rates for betting on football World Cup started a week before the tournament began. About Rs.200 crore will be bet on a first and second round match. About Rs.400 crore will be bet on each quarter-final. Each semi-final would attract bets of around Rs.750 to Rs.800 crore.

 

Anywhere between Rs.1500 to Rs.2000 crore would be bet on the final match.

 

The total number of matches is 64, and the total money that will be bet will be in the range of Rs.15,000 crore.

 

The last World Cup had also attracted huge betting, but was limited to Rs.8,000 crore only.
