Over 80k Credit Cards Data Dump On Sale In The Darkweb Market: Advisory Issued By Cyber Cell Maharashtra

Hackers leaked the detailed information of over 80,000 credit cards put up for sale on the dark web market.

  • This Data Breach consists of credit card details of various countries such as the United States (33K), France (14K), Australia (5K), United Kingdom (5K), Canada (2K), Singapore (1.2 K) and India (1.3K).
  • They include both Visa and MasterCard, according to the information.
  • The price of each credit card, which includes the name of the cardholder, CVV code, and expiration date, is $5 per unit, paid in crypto. This price is regardless of each card’s value.
  • Cyble believes that it could have come from a phishing website or an online store that the hackers had managed to breach.
  • Data breaches occur when the user data stored with companies and websites is stolen using phishing, malware. Under attacks like this, user data such as customer name, number, address and payment details are stolen.
  • Taking pre-emptive steps:
  • The type of information found on the dark web plays a role in what steps you should take.
  • Find your credit card or bank account numbers on the dark web, let your card issuer inform so they can help you close the account and open a new one.
  • If one of your passwords is on the dark web, change it on all of the accounts where you use it.
  • As an added precaution, change the security questions on your accounts as well.
