Bollywood Under Mafia Scanner Vishad M., Mumbai Bollywood is under scanner of mafia and every one is trying to save their skin in the Bharat Shah-Nazim Rizvi case under MCOCA. Out of total 150 witnesses, there are 33 panch witness and 67 police officers. Only 50 witnesses are from the film industry or other fields. Only a few of them have given statements against Nazim Rizvi, Bharat Shah and Chhota Shakeel and dared extend a helping hand to the Mumbai police. · A Hindi film actor who started his career from 'Falak' as an Assistant Director to the Shashilal Nair in 1987 and acted in 'Biwi ho to Aisi' as a hero recorded his statement on 16th December 2000 in Bharat Shah case. In his statement he said, 'I have been receiving calls on my mobile phone from Abu Salem who used to threaten me to act in his films.' · A film actor turned Producer-Director who was shot at by the Mafia for not letting his superstar son work in their film, recorded his statement against Nazim Rizvi and Chhota Shakeel on 1st July 2000. He clearly stated that Chhota Shakeel had threatened him to pay an extortion amount of Rs.2 crores, which he had refused. He further stated that Chhota Shakeel refused to believe him and kept on threatening to kill him if he gave extortion money to Abu Salem. He also threatened me by saying that he will spoil the future of my son in the film industry,' the producer stated. He also pointed out Rizvi as Shakeel's front man in the film industry. Rizvi met this producer-actor thrice and threatened him with dire consequences if he did not co-operate. Chhota Shakeel said that he can manage through Bharat Shah or any other producer and Bharat Shah would be the presenter. After this talk I again checked Nazim Rizvis antecedents in the film industry, and it was confirmed that he was working for Chhota Shakeel. With this incident I was totally upset and thought it is fit to inform the police. My security and my son's security were doubled, he stated. · A personal assistant of a famous Bollywood actor who is handling his financial matters also recorded his statement on 20th December 2000 in the Bharat Shah case. He was threatened by Chhota Shakeel on his mobile to reschedule his film as 'Chori Chori ' was also scheduled to be released on 22nd December 2000. He said, 'Chhota Shakeel told me that I should postpone the release by a week. I expressed my inability to do so and he told me that it was in my own interest and nobody shall be blamed if anything goes wrong or anybody is hurt.' After this call the film was rescheduled to release on 28th December 2000. · A petrol pump owner of Hindustan Petroleum who is also buying and selling old building material from his Andheri shop also recorded his statement on 04th January 2001 and stated that he knows notorious gangster Abu Salem and Tarique Parvin. After Gulshan Kumar murder case, he was called for inquiry at the Crime Branch. He stated, 'After this incident Chhota Shakeel had targeted me saying that I was Ab Salems man. He also mentioned that he took Tarique, Nazim and Rahim to a very popular film Director to direct a film financed by Bharat Shah. · A Bollywood director, who is working in this industry since 1976 and directed movies like Aankhein, Shola Aur Shabnam, Bade Miyan Chote Miyaan, Hero No.1, Bol Radha Bol, also recorded his statement on 5th January 2001. He said, 'In February 2000, producer Nazim Rizvi approached me for his next film and asked me to sign his next film as a director. He told me that Sanjay Dutt would be the hero and Bharat Shah would be the financer. Nazim Rizvi told me that the film belongs to Chhota Shakeel,' he said · An owner of a music company recorded a statement on 17th Jan 2001 that he also had a chat with Chhota Shakeel through Nazim Rizvi he said, 'There were rumours in the film industry that Nazim Rizvi is working for Chhota Shakeel and is planning to take over under production films as his front.' · A film producer who holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering also recorded his statement on 25th January 2001, in which he said that he had had a dispute with Afzal Khan and Sanjay Dutt for Rs. 27 Lakhs and 36 Lakhs respectively. Khalid Khan @ Khalid Boxer, brother-in-law of this producer, was a mediator between the producer and Chhota Shakeel. In March-April 1999, Chhota Shakeel told him that Sanjay and Afzal were working for him and producer will get only Rs.36 Lakhs. · Another film producer who is also in film production since 1985 had signed stars like Bobby Deol, Shahrukh Khan, Karishma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Salman Khan for his two projects. He was also threatened by Chhota Shakeel to pay Rs.5 crores as extortion. When he refused, Chhota Shakeel threatened for dire consequences. He said, On 11th October 2000, I spoke to Chhota Shakeel with the help of a mediator to reduce the amount. Chhota Shakeel agreed on Rs.1 crores after a long telephone conversation. He further added 'After a month or so I had approached Bharat Shah for further mediation with Chhota Shakeel they were close and Shah used to mediate in such cases. Bharat Shah had promised me that he will try to reduce the amount.' This producer handed over jewellery, documents of flats and Rs.20 Lakhs in cash to Bharat Shah to pay the extortion amount. · A film producer had also given a statement in the Bharat Shah case on 29th January 2001, that in August 2000 Chhota Shakeel had demanded Rs.5 crores as extortion. On 12th November 2000, Chhota Shakeel again called up this producer and said, 'Bahut natak ho gaya, yadi kal paise nahin diye toh aage dekhna.' Then this producer paid 23 Lakhs to Shakeel's man Bacchu at Centaur Hotel. .. .. .. .... |
