Her Journey Opened Heaven For Her And Hell For Her Child: Corona Chronicle #046

He was playing in his mother’s arms just a few hours ago on the Shramik Special Train.

This train was started for the migrant workers away from home during the heart wrenching times of COVID-19.

She was a migrant woman on her way back to Muzaffarpur from Ahmedabad.

Her baby was still playing around her, unaware of the fact and the fate that will turn his life upside down.

The travel was almost 1800 kilometers.

When they reached Muzaffarpur, she was not alive.

Her body was brought down the train and was kept on the station with a blanket over her.

Her baby came and started trying to wake her up.

The blanket over her face got pulled and he looked at his mother with stars in his eyes.

He was still unaware of the situation.

When he did not feel his mother move, he just snuggled in the blanket beside his dead mother and covered his head with it.

She died of hunger and dehydration during her journey back home.

She just wanted a roof over her child’s head and some food to feed him.

The police, however have a different story.

They said that she was undergoing medication and treatment for “some disease” and was even “mentally unstable”.

This child did not know that the blanket he was actually playing with was the shroud for his mother.

She was 35 years old and her toddler was just 2 years.

Her name was Abrina Khatoon.

Her journey opened heaven for her and hell for her child.
