Pune Gangland: Cracking Down: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Targets Three Gangs Under MCOCA

A noteworthy development has unfolded as the Pimpri-Chinchwad police have taken decisive action against three well-organized criminal gangs, invoking the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). A total of 16 accused members hailing from Pimpri, Talegaon Dabhade, and Bhosari were apprehended, effectively curbing criminal activities in the region. This significant operation was executed under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey.

Apprehensions Across Gangs

Among the individuals apprehended, eight were affiliated with the gang led by Yashwant alias Atul Subhash Dongre in Pimpri, four were connected to Sudhir Anil Pardeshi’s gang in Talegaon Dabhade, and another four were associated with Saurabh Santuram Motirave’s gang in Bhosari.

The nefarious activities of these gangs spanned across serious offenses such as murder, attempted murder, theft, evidence tampering, assault, burglary, vehicle vandalism, and arson.

These incidents were recorded within the jurisdiction of Pimpri, Chakan, Talegaon Dabhade, and Bhosari police stations.

Strategic Application of the ‘MCOCA Pattern’

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have been steadfastly implementing the ‘MCOCA Pattern’ as part of their strategy to combat organized crime within the region.

In the ongoing year, their efforts have culminated in the apprehension of 226 criminals linked to 24 distinct gangs, showcasing their proactive approach to curbing criminal activities within the city.

The statistics of prosecutions carried out under the ‘MCOCA’ legislation over the years are as follows:

– 2018 – 8 cases

– 2019 – 59 cases

– 2020 – 50 cases

– 2021 – 187 cases

– 2022 – 129 cases

– 2023 – 226 cases
