In a resolute move, Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta has initiated a targeted crackdown on city gangs to uphold law and order. Rupesh Krishnarao Marne, a notorious historysheeter who orchestrated a rally to celebrate the release of infamous criminal Gajanan Marne from Taloja Jail, has been subjected to the formidable Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act.
This marks Commissioner Gupta’s 50th MPDA action, with his consistent endeavor to curtail the activities of thugs and organized crime syndicates through the use of MPDA and the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Rupesh Marne Faces the Brunt of MPDA
Rupesh Marne (38), hailing from Shastrinnagar in Kothrud, spearheaded a motor rally commemorating the release of the notorious criminal Gaja Marne, who had recently been freed from incarceration.
Rupesh Marne’s criminal record is far-reaching, with cases registered against him at Kothrud, Warje Malwadi, Swargate, Yerwada, Paud, Talegaon Dabhade, and Samarth police stations.
His notoriety bred an atmosphere of intimidation and fear within the local populace.
Sanctioning of MPDA
The proactive stance taken by Senior Police Inspector Mahendra Jagtap of Kothrud Police Station and Senior Police Inspector Vaishali Chandgude of the Crime Branch led to the submission of proposals for decisive action against Rupesh Marne under the MPDA.
Consequently, Commissioner of Police Gupta granted approval for invoking the MPDA against Marne.
The order mandates his confinement at Aurangabad Jail for a duration of one year, signaling a stern response to curtail his criminal activities and to maintain public safety.
